Hi, what do you think of the following sentences?,

1) You needn't / don't have to write a new cheque. ( a customer in a bank ).

2) Tom needn't / doesn't have to wear a uniform at school. ( one parent to a principal )


3)

- ( A lecturer to his students ). You needn't / don't have to type the essays, just write them legibly.

- ( After sometime, a student is telling another one ). Well, I needn't / don't have to type my essay.Just write it legibly.

4)

When I'm an old age pensioner, I shan't / won't pay any more bus fares.

Hi Nick, thanks for replying.As I understood I'd go for the following:

1) You needn't to to write a new cheque. ( because here is a speaker authority ).

2) Tom doesn't have to wear a uniform at school. ( because here is an external authority ).

4 ) Ok , I forgot about this Rolling Eyes
