I am going to make up a sentence below.

(ex) I had been looking for an affordable laptop computer in the past two weeks, and I found a very good deal.

Some of my friends and I think the past perfect continuous "had been looking" is correct because it indicates an action which started in the past and ended at a later past time. However, my other friends think the past continuous 'was looking for' sounds better.

Which tense do you think is correct? Thanks a lot.

Makes more sense.
