No longer will I be someone's machine in the sweat shop of value village!!! I just got hired at a car dealership and I start on the 20th....I can't wait!!! Only bad thing is I won't be receiving my christmas bonus anymore...I don't think. My last day at the "big "V" is the 17th.....oh well, at least i'll be outta that hole. I have learned that I will never work in a factory type place again, because it's just a scam to make the rich, richer. Do, or have any of you ever worked at Value Village, or any other business like Value Village?
Nope. What is "value village" anyway? Sounds like a theocon NGO, but that wouldn't be factorywork.
Value Village? Isn't that some sort of discount massage parlor, popular in parts of Canada.
Major congrats St!!!!!
I hope you rnew job turns out to be right up your alley and give ya MO MONEY!
whats value village? Is that like a Dollar store? And are they hiring???
Value Villiage started in the pacific northwest. It is a for profit second hand store. Charities collect used goods, the store pays them a percentage, the store then sell the goods, and whatever is leftover is baled and sold to third world countries by the pound. I believe the stores are mostly in the western usa and canada.
Congratulations Stand Up! What a great feeling to get a new job when an old one you have disliked for so long.

I wish you every success in your new venture!
oh yeah! Sorry I forgot Pessimism...
Congrats, I hope the new job goes well. I hope they offer you many opportunities and treat you well too.
Thanks guy!
And Ceili, how come you know so much about value village?!!! Please tell me you havn't had the misfortune of working there?
Way to GO, pessy. Forget the silly bonus and don't look back.
Nope, but I live down the road from one. I read an article on them once, somewhere, sometime.

Value Village is evil. I used to put a lot of effort into my diatribes on them.
They hook up with local charities, telling them they're going to give them a percentage of the profit from the sales, and then get the charity to provide volunteers who make the solitician for goods calls.
Then with a little happy creative accounting, they make sure there is virtually no profit. It's amazing how they go through charity affiliations.
Evil. Evil. Evil.
Give me Goodwill anyday. It actually is a charity. Or St. Vincent de Paul or the Sally Ann (though these two have religious affiliations which I try to avoid).
Good thing you're outta there, StandupforP. I'm glad you've got something that'll be better for you - in so many ways.
Congrats on the new job, standup! (You're not anywhere near Slappy are you?

)
Nah! She thinks Boston is the Deep South.
Next time I stumble across a Value Village, I'm gonna drive right by and head down the road to visit Ceili.
Don't forget to bring her a bale of used clothes. I hear that that's the key to her heart.
Joe
WAY TO GO, STAND UP for Pessimism !!!!!!!!
Thanks again!
If you wanna know more about the value village slave labour...........
What the employee's really think.
Congratulations, standup! Move on and don't think about the bonus. It's not worth it.
Good luck for the new job! Keep us posted, yes?
I will definitely keep you guys posted....I just hope the new job works out, the joy of risk taking....hehehe
It sounds like that anything is better than value village.
Congratulations standup and I cross my fingers
that everything will work out just the way you had hoped.
Good luck!
Congrats. What are you going to be doing at the car dealership?
I know that business in and out.
