9-5 sux! I wanna go O/S volunteering!

My present contract runs out in early Feb. (tho it might be extended, they're swamped here!). I have been thinking about some overseas travel, but get the INCREDIBLE guilts about just 'goofing off'.

So, the thought swims up from the lower part of my consciousness:

Quote:
'You could goof off overseas AND be working at the same time!'

"Hey! I could too! Now go away coz it's creepy having a new voice in my head!".

So volunteering folks. Any positive experiences or advice?

And no, I won't be travelling to your place to mow your lawn for free and sleep in the loft over the garage.....

and I'm not quite short enough to hit the midgit-strippers circuit Slappy, even if you do consider it a public service...

. . . and forget all about 9-5. Try 24-7 O/S.

International Volunteer Day = Dec. 5

Guess it must have been sort of noticeable on the radar in a sublimal way. Helping on a census of sea turtles in the Caribbean sounds good!

Why do you feel guilty about goofing off?
You have worked as much as you can since you were physicaly able. Do you reallly want to justify your life by working until you cant anymore? what does that do for someone?

If I were in y our position I would be SOOOO outta there . If you can afford it, and you have the time/energy to relocate to do what you want .. what are you waiting for? ;-)

Ta, Deb.

WolfLassie - I am still in the process (slow and painful) of sorting out the mess of my failed marriage. This involves three girls under 10 years and if I like well.... screw up... my parents will have me over the coals for the next decade, they will then be happily replaced by my offspring.

I sort of desperately need a new direction, but the guilts are that 'can I really do this and it looks like I have just upped and left my kids?'. Not easy... damned if I don't do everything for my children, damned if I don't do things that matter to me. If someone had mentioned this on our wedding day.....

It's in the REALLY fine print on the contract.

I believe the question is closer to: "WITH what was I thinking?"
