dear friend

I hope you can answer me about this example Which confused me

He has/had been blue' is not possible. (Unless somebody has been painted another colour.

The first one is past perfect ok

But the second part I can't know what is it

Past perfect or passive

And why??

Past Perfect Continuous. We use this to show that something started in the past and continued up until another time in the past.

In this sentence the word "blue" is a feeling of sadness or depressed.

So yes, you can say:

He had been blue for months before he met her.

He had been blue is not a past perfect continous because we don't have v+ing here secondly

Blue is adjective here like we say

He had been a good man

He had been hero ....etc
