Here is a quotation:
Quote:When you look back on your life, it looks as though it were a plot, but when you are into it, it's a mess: just one surprise after another. Then, later, you see it was perfect.
Schopenhauer
I am quite puzzled by the use of "on", "upon" and "at" in this sentence.
When I google them, the results surprise me a lot.
about 1,450,000 for "look back at"
about 756,000 for "look back on"
about 67,500 for "look back upon"
According to the google results, it seems to me that "look back at" is more favorable.
What do you think of the three prepositions in this phrase?
