I'm sure he is Cav. I'd eat Canadian beef. I was responding to candid1's snide remark.

I just looked 'em up. It would be hard to tell.

Quote:
The initial symptoms are subtle with ambiguous symptoms of insomnia, depression, confusion, and strange physical sensations. Some problems with memory, coordination, and sight also begin to develop but are ignored as a sign of increasing age.

The whole choked on a pretzel thing could already have been a sign.Shocked

It's definitely not a diagnosis I'd wish on anyone, at any time, for any reason.

Not quite Walter. We are certainly self-righteous, but we don't whine.

Canada beats us by far on both counts.

IMO some US liberals can whine with the best of 'em.

Canadians don't whine. We mostly sit back and laugh, have a proper beer, and discuss sandbagging the 49th parallel and wonder about which Great Lake you can keep once we secede. So far, the vote is overwhelmingly in favour of Lake Michigan. Unlike the US, we rarely have 'close call' elections. Wink

Ever notice that Canada parts ways often with the American war mandate?
Our self-righteousness stems mainly from the fact that on any given day in any given country, city or town in the world, our nation is commands far more respect, is seen as a more desirable country to move to Expatriates top 130-CNN , and has never once made any attempt to bully respect out of the international community.

Canadian self-righeousness has evolved as a defense mechanism built up in response to American machismo--please explain the whining typical of Canadians because with my feet grounded solidly beyond the 49th, I am unable to hear my quiet nation's whining above our ostentatious neighbor's pomp.

I get your point, but believe you greatly exaggerate -- "…any given day…" etc. The list of cities reflects only perceived desirability, not accessibility. Not too many immigrants ever make it to Sweden, Iceland, or Norway; while the U.S. and Canada accept lots of immigrants.

Canada and the U.S. face entirely different political and strategic situations and, as a result, your comparison isn't apt. When Canada was a piece of the British Empire you didn't bully anyone either - you let the British do that for you.

"Ostentatious" - yes. "pomp" - no. The fact is we do hear the whining all too well. Whether the subject is Canadian lumber, cattle or anything else, one would think we are imposing great hardship on you. The truth is quite different. Americans are increasingly aware of this.

I didn't know this:

Quote:
Bush arrested in Canada for war crimes

OTTAWA, CANADA (AP) -- On the first of his two-day planned visit to Canada, George W. Bush was taken into custody by Canadian authorities citing war crime charges. Under Canadian law, even a non-citizen can be charged for crimes committed outside of Canada once that individual enters the country.

http://www.world-cnn.com/images/arrested_sm.jpg
Bush received a bruise on his face during the arrest, which
some observers have noted resembles a Canadian maple leaf.

The arrest claims that President Bush has been "party to the crime of torturing prisoners held in Guantánamo Bay and Abu Ghraib."

Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin released a written statement indicating that "proceedings have commenced against President George W. Bush under the Crimes Against Humanity and War Crimes Act (s. 9(3))."
