Okay, I'll probably spend more than two days in London - probably from Friday (Apr 29) or Saturday (Apr 30) thru Monday (May 2). Then off to Amsterdam for three days from May 3 to May 5 (want to visit the Van Gogh museum without fail). On to Walter's for Saturday and Sunday, then off on my trip to southern Italy with a one day stop in Milano. Might do a detour in Austria, and also consider doing a group tour to Dubrovnik and environs before heading home.

As I PM'd to dyslexia a moment ago, one of the two first weeks in May we'll be in some of the Northern European destinations -- some combination of London, Amsterdam, Berlin, Munich, or Amsterdam -- and will be calling the travel agent tomorrow about a Perillo or some such land-based excursion.

Do you have any experience with Perillo Tours, c.i.?

though I am the opposite of CI and PDid/dies re a tour thing (visualizing my stretcher...)
but, I'm still interested in hearing about them.

Just for your information, May 2 (Monday) is a Bank Holiday in the UK, so (a) some attractions may be closed and (b) transport schedules may be different - they usually run a "Sunday" service.

Picked up Walter at the airport this morning early for our Manchester mini-meet. He's browsing round the city today, and we're off to the pub this evening to meet some local worthies.

Cheers!

PDid, Never did a Perillo tour because of their above average prices for everything, but I have heard excellent reports from people who have used them. I can still remember one of my jaunts to Venice, about a block away from St Mark's square, sitting at an outside restaurant. Some ladies from New York sat at my table, and they were just ending their Perillo tour from southern Italy. They all gave their thumbs up for the tour for the hotels. I was traveling independent, and I also liked my "hotel and tours" on the cheap. Wink
The only time I would recommend using a tour company is when you visit any destination for the very first time to make sure you don't miss out on the important sites. It saves time on transportation, accommodations, and tour guides. Most of my travels to Europe are now independent. I've never visited south of Rome, so I'm considering an organized tour group. Same with Dubrovnik and the western sea shore of the Adriatic Sea.

Most certainly (=99%) I would attend the London meeting as well - if it happens about midday, I even could return the very same day

Cool map....

That sounds good, but whenever I make it to England, I wanna go to that fine Indian Restaurant Gautam picked out before, perhaps even Before hitting the museums and parks...

ci - Aussies just can't imagine 50c to the pound - that's the stuff of dreams. Oz dollar looks about 38p - so it takes roughly 2.5 south pacific pesos for a pound! Bah, humbug!

A fortnight ago, it still was 68 cents, the same as all the times before. (I suppose, they do this to help me calculating: 2/3 of something is what I still can do without electronical aid Laughing )

Well, I wanted to say that I can calculate up to 2/3.

Which excludes 3/3, of course.
