Clary - from what I've read I think he is coming alone.
But could you please read back his posts on this thread, in case I missed something?

Count me in for April 30 at 2PM, May 1 at 12:30PM, and dinner at Levant.

If c.i. is indeed uncontactable, someone should show up at the Penderel Oak at 2 on Sat. I am happy to do that, anyone else be there???

By the way, Quadrato are happy to mix 'n' match these menus, so if you long for roast veg entree but also tiramisu that is perfectly possible!

Re alcohol - I take it Walter drinks only water, but for the rest of us - I have a wine list. Mostly Italian but extensive - again if anyone wants to look at it I'll send it.

Quadrato for me ... and
.... Mrs. and Mr. Steve will be there as well, btw.

c.i. is staying - as far as I know - alone in London/Amsterdam/Lippstadt.
I've faxed him (at his hotel) earlier this week, but didn't get any response.
Nevertheless, isn't he staying in the same London hotel as Diane and dys?

Does anyone still plan to meet at Sunday lunchtime?

It seems the main event is now Saturday night at Quadrato...I may have to change my plans in order to be there.

Well, I've expressed this earlier, and I still think, this is just a "substitute" meeting to the main meeting on Sunday.

(Got this second an email by c.i., btw.. However, you can't reply: only get an automatic absense response.

ok I am starting to get confused, C.I. / the lady Diane and meself are staying at the Paddington Court Hotel on Devonshire Terrace Road and had planned to spend some part of Sat at Covent Gardens, other than that I am not sure what's happening or when/where.

If you are asking for a volunteer who waits there for c.i. with you, I hereby volunteer. But it looks as if he can be contacted before then.

Oh, that's perfect! I'll have my "Westferry" with the crème brulée then.

Thanks for offering. I'm not much of an expert, so I would have been inclined to let the waiter recommend the right bottle to go with the menu. (Most waiters are quite competent with these things in my experience.) But if we have wine experts who want to step forward, I'd be happy to take their advice.

Got a response to my Faxes from c.i. now

From c.i.'s email
Quote:
[Okay on the Auadrato restaurant at the 4 seasons. I'll selecdt the Westferry set. It's been fantastic thus far, and hope it'll continue this way. I'm a bit bushed right now because I walked from our hotel to Valletta this morning. Had lunch in Sliema, and found this internet cafe on my walk back to the hotel. Looking forward to seeing the gang again in London.

Tarah - NO!!!!

I would like to meet everyone on Sunday, so I will also be at Penderell's Oak at 12:30, hoping that everyone who's been out the night before is not too hungover to join us. Laughing

I look forward to remeeting people in the cruel light of day on Sunday! And of course the fresh and lovely faces of KP and Tarah, to name but 2.

To all of us meeting on Saturday, especially c.i., if you see this - unfortunately the Thames boats I recommended only ply on weekdays for commuters, so we have to arrive by the dull and ignoble tube. If we were to meet at the Penderel Oak at about 5.30, we could all lurch off to the tube after an hour and a half's drinking.

Thoughts, please...

You cannot be serious.

There's a perfectly good McDonalds near the Four Seasons, on the roundabout leading to the Isle of Dogs.

Just in case you and the missus drop in to the Quadrato to see us, have you any preferences as to food?

Clary, would it be too much touble if Dys and I order from the ala carte menu? We are notorious for not being able to make up our minds.

Dys will arrive in modern, socially acceptable pants instead of jeans. Sigh. Where is my lasso?

We would also like to meet at the Penderal Oak with anyone who can make it on Sunday.
