Oh for pity's sake, all this smiling is getting to be ridiculous.

We are thrilled that osso can house sit for us. She has visited us here before so the animals know her and are quite comfortable with her. She has a sort of animal magnetism anyway. Very Happy Twisted Evil

Will be departing for Malta on Friday; flying from SFO to London, then from London to Malta. See you guys on May 1 for sure. Got most of my packing done; hope I don't forget anything!

Hey I've been to Malta, once, about five years ago.
It's a very interesting place and the language is arabic-based, very strange.
Excellent old rattly buses (British, vintage). I took the bus to Medina, the old capital, and Valetta. We were staying near Sliema, which has an interesting harbour.

Enjoy!

And I hope Osso has a nice time in Albu... Albuck... NM

We're staying in Sliema at the Crowne Plaza for 13 nites. I understand public transportation is pretty decent and cheap in Malta. Wink

Sorry to drag people back from Malta, but have we got a definite time and place for the London gathering yet? I have cancelled the Frenchwoman and can be there any day!

Penderel's Oak, High Holborn, not far from Holborn Tube Station, Saturday afternoon...shall we say at two? Unless otherwise advised.
I'll be coming down to London on Friday night (probably, Fiona is still talking about coming by train on Saturday, but that's unlikely I think) and so am around anyway.
Gautam or KP are invited to fix up a nice restaurant for the evening.

Well, I'll arrive in Stansted on Friday night - and actually have no real other* plans until Monday afternoon (that's when I've to be at the airport again).

*Penderel's Oak, High Holborn, any time.

Am I correct in thinking that there will be "gatherings" on both Sat 30th and Sun 1st? The trains heading down South on the Bank Holiday weekend are very busy, and engineering works are making things even worse.

I can either arrive 10pm on Friday, or 2pm on Saturday (nothing inbetween), and leave anytime on Monday (no seats on Sunday trains at all). Not sure how many hotel nights my budget will stretch to. Does anyone know any good websites for finding cheap hotels? When I say cheap, I mean "Youth Hostel" cheap.

CI, take photos on Malta, eh? I'd like to hear about it when you return. I'll say Buon Viaggio now in case we don't run into each other here on a2k before you catch your flight.

osso, Will do; it seems Malta has many historical sites with archaeological ruins. It should be an interesting trip; sorta reminds me of Peru where they have built structures with huge rocks. I'll send you a couple of the "better" ones when I get back

Grand Duke, dys, Diane and I will be in London from April 29, so we may have some "free" time on the 30th. We're staying at the Best Western Paddington Court Hotel. Give us a jingle.
