Well as they used to say, "duh" he is a liar, well known to be liar, people hardly take anything he says at face value. And this is our president. God help us all.

The problem is knowing which is the lie and which is not. He could have tapes and decided they would be too damaging to produce, or it could have been a bluff. He was smart enough (street smart or slick)to phrase the whole tape thing ambiguously. He never really said he recorded his conversations, now he is saying his office could be bugged. Which is outrageous in itself.

It makes you wonder what was the point of even suggesting or hinting the existence of a tape. Was there some type of strategy? What was the end game?

Why do people always try to find the deeper, more strategic motives behind what Herr Gropenfuhrer does? Do you really believe his mental operation is that profound? He lies and blathers out impulsively because he can - because he has not been held accountable for his words. That's bad enough, without us attempting to impute sone deep meaning to every bullshit, lowlife, charlatan thing he does.

If the other person has a clear memory or took precise notes of the meeting, that person might end up calling his bluff. That is what Comey has appeared to have done.

2. Trump never claimed, or even suggested, that HE had tapes. He just said Comey better hope there were none if he was planning to lie.

3. Everyone knew, or should have known, that it was just a head game from the git-go.

Trump keeps the game goin until there's no more need for it. And even longer if he's enjoying the game. Spine? Has nothing to do with it. They can ask millions of questions and he won't answer any of them if he doesn't feel like it.
