Re: Fallujah in pictures

The face of war is ugly. Gen. Patton said it is good that war is so horrible else we would come to love it too much.

Patton did love it too much, and he is not alone.

War has always looked like this. The difference is, that in the past, we did not have digital cameras.

i am divided as to whether the pictures will help all americans to see the destructiveness of war..or if it will make us desensitized...and we did have cameras in vietnam ...i was just too young then to remember...

I suppose, compared to the 30-years war, there are more differences than just a digital camera.

But I don't think, we should behave like in those days.

Yes, war has always looked like this.

So let's look at what is real.

In reality, killing someone in a mosque doesn't showl high standards of civilisation.

Destroy a city to liberate it. Now that is an oxymoron if there was one

When I think of 9/11, the bombing in Madrid, the beheadings....and realize these were the people who did it, I really don't have alot of pity in my heart except for the conditions that push someone to that.

You should have gone and bombed Riyadh then.

There are new facts about the above mention known by now? It wasn't Bin Laden at all?

Bob Dylan

Come you masters of war
You that build the big guns
You that build the death planes
You that build all the bombs
You that hide behind walls
You that hide behind desks
I just want you to know
I can see through your masks

You that never done nothin'
But build to destroy
You play with my world
Like it's your little toy
You put a gun in my hand
And you hide from my eyes
And you turn and run farther
When the fast bullets fly

Like Judas of old
You lie and deceive
A world war can be won
You want me to believe
But I see through your eyes
And I see through your brain
Like I see through the water
That runs down my drain

You fasten the triggers
For the others to fire
Then you set back and watch
When the death count gets higher
You hide in your mansion
As young people's blood
Flows out of their bodies
And is buried in the mud

You've thrown the worst fear
That can ever be hurled
Fear to bring children
Into the world
For threatening my baby
Unborn and unnamed
You ain't worth the blood
That runs in your veins

How much do I know
To talk out of turn
You might say that I'm young
You might say I'm unlearned
But there's one thing I know
Though I'm younger than you
Even Jesus would never
Forgive what you do

Let me ask you one question
Is your money that good
Will it buy you forgiveness
Do you think that it could
I think you will find
When your death takes its toll
All the money you made
Will never buy back your soul

And I hope that you die
And your death'll come soon
I will follow your casket
In the pale afternoon
And I'll watch while you're lowered
Down to your deathbed
And I'll stand o'er your grave
'Til I'm sure that you're dead

If it is true that war always looks like that then I don't understand why we didn't wait until there was no other option but to go war and kill and destroy so much.

Now there is no one hardly left in the city at all according to a washington post article.

Some had fled but an awful lot were traped in there and they must have been killed right along with the "insurgents."

These people had nothing to do with 9/11. Nothing.

You really should find some pity.

Or he could see if there is a repeat showing of "Deadline Iraq" last nights documentary on Discovery Times. Mind you I doubt that would've swayed any opinions either. To many people wearing blinkers!!!

But destroy a city to liberate a country makes much more sense when you don't pigeon hole it, huh?
