You can't argue with JW using things like facts and logic, Gav, they bounce right off of his shell of belief....

Facts and logic? Those seem to be in short supply on the left these days.
Unlike fear and loathing on the right...
This bit of fascinating news will be in the upcoming issue of US News & World Report.
Special Report - The Iran Connection
Where will the soldiers come from for this war?
FreeDuck wrote:And so it begins....
According to the article, it "began" more than a year ago.
Of course it did. Just like the current war in Iraq actually 'began' in 1991. Or in the 80's depending on who's counting.

Perhaps just waving that "big stick" will serve. What they do know (it's pointed out in the article that they're not
stupid) is that this time there won't be any promises to "rebuild" and no offers of assistance.
I don't think the lesson of Fallujah is lost on them.

by the way, a new urban war is coming up.... in Mosul.
Thok - according to reports, the cockroaches are everywhere.
But especially positioned in Fallujah and now Mosul.

It was neither, but rather fear of economic sanctions.

But why finally now and not already before?
The timing IS a bit suspicious. Personally, I don't care what the reasons are. Whatever strips them of their "delusions" is fine by me.
The so-called "agreement" doesn't amount to much anyway. I'll be curious to the "official" US response.
I find it curious that all of the now debunked justifications for Iraq are amply evident in Iran (as demonstrated by their WMD admissions, terrorist ties, and dangerous fundamentalism), and yet, where are our troops? Apparently, it hasn't dawned upon some people that our big stick was expended fighting cats while we allowed the ?'weak and pathetic' Europeans to deal with the tigers.
I too doubt that the agreement will be upheld, but perhaps that argument should have been made when we sauntered up to Baghdad instead of Tehran. And now we're told that Iran's ?'willingness' to disarm was caused by their fear of Bush's strength and military will. Surely this is all in jest. We can't seriously threaten military invasion at this point; we're so tied up in Iraq that our military forces are doing double or triple duty. Theories about Iranian fear of military coercion are silly. Off course, I expect some people to use the recent evidence of Iranian malfeasance as justification for Bushian foreign policy, but consider the unambiguous message we've sent to Iran: Actual terrorist ties and WMD ambitions are treated less seriously than poorly constructed fantasies.
Steppenwolf - it's not just "us". Do you seriously think that if Iran pursues the path of obtaining nukes, they don't know they'll be the #1 target of both the US AND the Mossad?
I was merely curious about the timing of the so-called "agreement" to suspension. I don't seriously think we'll have to "threaten" military invasion as I don't think the leaders of Iran are blind. Sneaky as heck, but not blind.

the cockroaches you blanketly refer to all arabs and middle easterners as have a history of fighting tanks by throwing rocks at them...exactly what big stick it is that you think will deter them?
