I have a debate meet next week and i was wondering abouth other peoples opinions. IS it less safe, more or about the same. I wpuld enjoy if people put down their view and gave a few reasons to back it up. Or if anybody has some good websites i can look at or research from that would be great. On friday i can tell you the results of my debate meet if your wondering.

Hmmm. Depends how you measure safety.

If you're talking about perception of safety I'd say less safe. And the war against terrorism has appeared to be more a war against Iraq, and has in fact given 'terrorists' something of a rallying point, so some would say it has actually increased terrorism, or at least the potential for it - a recruiter's dream I'd say. I have a tough time defining terrorism. Were the French resistance in WWII terrorists?

So, if I was in a formal debate (3 speakers vs 3 speakers) I'd put a fair bit of effort into defining 'safety' and 'terrorism'. Good practice for a future political career.
