Not a very big prize, indeed quite a wee prize, but, still, a prize, at my local art association show. Alas, I have not a picture of my entry, which was itself a picture, as it were. A framed photo, which focused (or not, the focus wasn't that great) on a young woman looking at a painting of a celtic huntress that was rimmed in an ornate gold frame, as was my photo.
I'll have to photo the "framed photo of woman looking at framed painting" and scan it, so you can see what in the world I am talking about.
Fun, a matter of serendipity and a bit of humor.
Tell us about your art prizes...
Yippee!
I haven't won a prize since I was in high school - or maybe junior high school.
Congratulations, Osso.
There are no "little" prizes--only small contests.
I'm looking forward to seeing a picture of the picture.
Hold your dominion.
A picture of a picture of the picture.
applause! applause!
Good going osso, and, by all means SHOW US THE PICTURE!
Congrats, Osso!
Okay, everyone join in...
Picture...

Great news! Congratulations
Sounds cool, Osso. Congratulations.
Waiting... waiting... where's the picture??
Ah, it's nice, you all get it...
jo.osso
of course now I have to walk into the space and take a picture of a picture of a picture, will let you know when I accomplish this.
Happy, happy news! Congratulations, osso!
Hi, Lady J, and thanks. It is a wee award, indeed, but a pleasure.
In fact, looking at the art and the awards, many could be perplexed. 'Tis a visiting point of view that chooses, and I can imagine being the one to do it, not all so easy. One should NOT take a single prize as significant or lack of one a dump,
it is just one judge on one morning, or evening as the case may be.
Sometimes many wonder why one - whom one doesn't think is soooo great, wins the prize, and someone whose piece moves us, doesn't.
Different point of view, not less legitimate.
Tis the way of the art world...
Different points of view, tis true. And this time the view was towards you. Major, minor, win or lose, I think as your friends here, we are mostly overjoyed with your sharing of your good news with us. Sing your heart out sweetie and be proud! We are, of you!!
I just one some prizes for a couple of phtos:
the first ones, as still a school pupil, for more 'political photos':
- a state prize for one, showing the barb-fenced border and soldiers on both sites (got a federal prize for this one as well),
- two prizes for photos taken during the Anti-Sha demonstartions in Berlin.
Some of my photos were part of an exhibition about AIDS/AIDS-prevention - the "prize" just was that they were chosen.
The lasts I got [actually, I didn't send in any for more than 30 years) have been about places I visited or live at. (Used mainly for calendars and travel guide now.)
Quite funny that I got these prizes which those photos: I always thaught others of mine to be much better.
I so admire you folks with talent!
And congratulations to you, too, Walter. After seeing that amazing photo on my Callanish stones thread, I am not surprised at all that your photography would win awards. I KNEW it!
