So a few months ago me and my boyfriend had sex for the first time, but I was not able to get hard when I tried to top him. I like to be both dominant and submissive but for some reason I simply could not perform. I'm 17. Could it be that I'm not that into ass? What should I do?

Sounds like possible performance anxiety. Try to relax a little, slow down, and let the sex flow naturally. Try not to think of it in dom/sub terms where you are sort of in the spotlight to suddenly stick it in there and perform. Make it clear that you'd like to be on top sometimes, but let it happen naturally and you'll both enjoy yourselves more.
