Suppose there is a contest in which people try to show their good performance in English publish speaking. How should we name this kind of contest?
English speech contest?
Or English speaking contest? Or others?
Is there somebody who can help me?
It's a public speaking contest. Or an English public speaking contest. Calling it an English speaking contest is misleading. It sounds as if the contest relates to skills related to English, when in fact it's about speaking in public.
Using the term speech here doesn't work.
speaking...not speech....speech is more a question of grammar...speaking is a question of skillfully making your point......you can skillfully make a point with bad grammar....or you can speak with no skill and your speech can suck....that's bushism.....
Hello, buddies. I search "speech contest" and "speaking contest" with the google search engine. The results show that the former is much more popular than the latter. Who can explain it a little bit more? Thanks a lot!
