I fear so, but I can still register a protest vote for a minor party whose platform I respect, yes?

Meanwhile, back in Canberra, federal politicians have given themselves a nice, little financial boost! (I wonder if the have to produce evidence of "productivity increases" like the rest of us? Ha! I agree labor are a conservative bunch at present but do think IR differences and a less callous attitude to welfare is enough to make change worthwhile.

I've not been far away Margo - Discovered a good online Bridge Club which is keeping me busy.

Regards all - pity we can't have the revolution.

Well, we could have a wee one!
A number of polls have been telling us (for a while now) that Labor is ahead of the Libs as the preferred next federal government .... however JH is still the preferred PM.
Now, if we switched to a more satisfactory Labor leader Idea , things could get quite interesting!

(Greetings, gozmo! Very Happy)

Dennis Shanahan, Political editor/the Australian
September 13, 2006

KIM Beazley's plan to make a pledge to uphold the "Australian values" of freedom, democracy and gender equality a condition of entering the country has caused outrage within the Labor Party.

The Opposition Leader, also under attack for his comments on Muslims, stared down strong criticism from Labor colleagues yesterday after proposing a plan forcing visitors to Australia to sign visas endorsing Australian values.

Labor MPs told The Australian last night they were deeply concerned about the proposal, which was made without consultation, was not workable and undermined the party's values. ... <cont>
