I came across this website watching PBS. It's a comprehensive list of issues, legislation, elected officials and candidates from across the US.

Project Vote Smart

In their own words:

Thousands of candidates and elected officials. Who works for you? Who is seeking your vote? Project Vote Smart, a citizen's organization, has developed a Voter's Self-Defense system to provide you with the necessary tools to self-govern effectively: abundant, accurate, unbiased and relevant information. As a national library of factual information, Project Vote Smart covers your candidates and elected officials in five basic categories: biographical information, issue positions, voting records, campaign finances and interest group ratings.

I thought the site was very informative, but I think I already know what the conservatives are going to say about it, should they choose to post here.

NOOOOO!!!

At least vote for a third party candidate. Don't waste your vote.

Be counted as a voter for "other," rather than as an apathetic non-voter.

I'm voting for David Cobb of the Green Party myself.

Not bad, but could be organized better
It would be nice to see a tabulation of how an individual candidate voted instead of having to click on each one. But, I only gave a cursory glance so I may have missed that. Looks like an okay site.
