I do not think that China has many chances to win a war against the USA. Population density in China (especially the Pacific Coast) is very high, and this makes usage of nuclear weapons against this country extremely efficient. It will be suicidal for China to launch any serious armed hostilities against the USA. And Chinese leaders do not make impression of insane or stupid.

edgar - Okay, I've given it some thought, and I think that I would like to see the military use of space limited to information gathering and defensive weapons. I would be against the positioning of any offensive weapon platforms in space.

As for defensive weapons, I would particularly like to see the US, along with NATO and any countries that want to lend a hand, develop a space-based missile shield. Once developed, proven, and deployed, I would extend the protection thereof to all nations, removing or eliminating the threat of ballistic missile attack from any source.
