What "that said" mean?

Context:
"Don't you know me?" asked the lad with a smile. "After I was shot down in the wood, you fed me with yellow petals in your hat box."

That said, he changed into a goldden oriole and flew off. And later Jack's descendants did indeed distinguish themselves in each successive generation.

It means just that!
"that said" refers to what they said in the earlier paragraph, and then go on doing something else.

You could also say "Having said that, he changed......."
