Get a grip, Chicago boy. If it was indeed the weather that hurt the Pack, all they did today was insure the weather will be better if they meet Dallas in the NFC Championship game, which in all likelihood was going through Dallas anyway. No question; the Bears whipped our collective a$$ today... but there was nothing devastating... or even important about it. I'm just glad no one was hurt.

I'll tell ya, Green Bay lost today for exactly 4 reasons:

1. To prevent Gus from becoming Rumpelstinkin and going to hell in his 13th tantrum of the year.
2. To make the day for the very hateful Dallas Cowboys fans in my office -yes, I worked today-.
3. To demonstrate that I gotta watch the game in order for the Packers to win (and this year, I must say I've been quite constant)
4. To make Wandel happy for at least one day (for this victory won't spare the Bears from a disastrous season Laughing )

As I told the fans of the "Putitos" (dem Lonesome Cowboys), we'll host the whole post-season, since Dallas will "give'em" in the first playoff game.

Just teasing, everybody. Smile

The Bears-Packers rivalry is a lot of fun for me.

Well that hurt.

But the weather sucked.

I agree that I'm glad nobody was injured -- it's an annoying loss but ultimately not a huge deal.

fbaezer -- keep watching!!!

The game wasn't on here. Cincinnati/ Cleveland instead. Like, who cares? (OK, maybe the rest of the state...)

Left the game (that is, the TV) when we were winning 21-3, for a bike ride with my daughter, we have such a nice weather today Twisted Evil ... thought it was enough of a lead, and it was.

Did anyone else see Brett Favre celebrating with Referee Pete Morelli (who reluctantly cooperated)? It may have been the coolest celebration in the history of football (specially since no one else could get away with it. I couldn't find a pic... but I found the story:
Ooh, almost the pic:

Other cool tidbits..

Brett Favre:
Quote:
PERHAPS HIS BEST?
-The NFL's only three-time MVP, quarterback Brett Favre may have just completed the finest season of his career at age 38.

-It was a monumental year for Favre, who broke some of the legue's most hallowed records.

-At the N.Y. Giants in Week 2, Favre recorded his 149th career win, surpassing John Elway as the winningest quarterback in league history. Favre now has 160 career wins.

-In Week 4 at Minnesota, he surpassed Dan Marino as the NFL's all-time leader in touchdown passes with his 421st TD. He now has 442.

-In Week 15 at St. Louis, again he surpassed Marino as the all-time leader in passing yards. He has 61,655 career passing yards.

-But it wasn't all about breaking records for Favre in 2007. In leading the Packers to the division title, he turned in one of the finest statistical seasons of his 17-year NFL career. A look at where some of his 2007 numbers rank over his brilliant career:

Category: 2007 Total - Rank
Wins: 13 - 1T
Completion percentage: 66.5% - 1
300-yard passing games: 7 - 1T
Passing yards: 4,155 - 3
Passer rating: 95.7 - 3
Interceptions: 15 - 3T
Completions: 356 - 4

The Green Bay Packers:
Quote:
SIMPLY THE BEST
-The Packers own more NFL championships (12) than any other franchise, but it's not all about past glory for the Green and Gold.

-Talk of unrestricted free agency in the early '90s led many to believe small-town Green Bay would be the first franchise to fold.

-Since the advent of free agency in 1993, the Packers own the best W-L record in the NFL. They have captured seven division titles in that time.

-The Packers have won 10 or more game in nine seasons since 1993.

-A look at the most successful teams in the free-agency era shows eight of the last 11 Super Bowl champions, beginning with Green Bay's '96 title:

Team (W-L Record) (Pct.)
Green Bay Packers (152-88-0) (.633)
New England Patriots (150-90-0) (.625)
Pittsburgh Steelers (148-91-1) (.619)
Denver Broncos (146-94-0) (.608)
Indianapolis Colts (138-102-0) (.575)
Kansas City Chiefs (135-105-0) (.563)
Philadelphia Eagles (132-107-1) (.552)

Well that was just plain magnificent.

I love these guys!

McCarthy is just the right coach for Brett, finally. I loved how he kept going with Clark even after those fumbles. And I love how Clark ran like crazy to make it up to his team.

I love Nick Barnett's crazy jawing, and Atari Bigby's out-of-nowhere hits.

I love, love, love, Brett's play when he was nearly sacked and then stumbled along barely keeping his face out of the turf and then he saw the open receiver and made the toss... gorgeous.

And that high loop right over Jennings' head in the end zone... poetry.

And all that snow just made everything even more wonderful.

<happy sigh>

Sure hope the Giants win so we can have one more on the frozen tundra this season.

That's the kind of weather every team should have to face periodically. As should the fans. Domed stadiums suck. Go Packers.

Brett was getting a little choked-up again post-game. Let's hope it's not his last at Lambeau.

The following day the same man goes to the Chicago Bear ticket office and inquires about purchasing Bear play-off tickets. The ticket teller politely replies that there weren't any tickets for sale because the Bears did not make it to the play-offs.

This goes on for an entire week. The man goes to the Bear ticket office inquiring about play-off tickets and the teller says none are for sale because the Bears did not make it to the play-offs.

Another week of this goes by and the man still is asking the ticket teller about Bear play-off tickets. Finally the ticket teller in a loud voice says, I'VE TOLD YOU FOR THE LAST 2 WEEKS THERE WERE NOT ANY TICKETS AVAILABLE BECAUSE THE THE BEARS DID NOT MAKE THE PLAY-OFFS.

The man replied, "I know. I drive all the way from Green Bay just to hear you say that!"

Woohoo!!! DALLAS GOES DOWN! Giants AT GREEN BAY NFC championship!!!!!

Once again, the road to the Super Bowl goes through Green Bay. Laughing

Thanks to my sons, I am getting back my enthusiasm for the game. It's just bonus that my Packers are hot again.

It would be really cool for my boys to be able to say they saw Brett Farve play at Lambeau the year the Packers won the Superbowl.

I don't know if I mentioned back in August that I got tickets to the Bishop's pre-season game. It was very, very cool to be able to take my boys up there.
