That was so a touchdown.

He had it, and got pushed out by the defender.

Now Bubba's limping... eek.

....whew!

I can watch the Packers again, yes!

If I was looking for a sign from the universe, that play in the seconds after I turned it on was pretty unambiguous. (For those who don't know WTF I'm talking about -- there was a fumble and a 57-yard touchdown return. That was the final score of the game.)

Decoding my other mumblings:

This was a sloppy game, with a lot of turnovers. Another one gave the Packers the ball on the Redskins' 10-yard-line. 2nd or 3rd try was Favre to Bubba Franks. Bubba caught it, but was pushed out by the Redskins defender. Ref said no TD. BS.

Then Bubba was limping -- hurt his knee. He was out of the game, dunno how bad the rest was. That's not good.

Then when it was 4th and 20 or something (Favre got sacked for a loss), the new guy missed the field goal. Bounced off the uprights, wrong direction. Damn.

But they won.

Whoo!

That was fun.

So who watched last night's game?

Too late for me, but looks like it was a great one...

6-1!

Quote from the game summary I read:

Quote:
"Brett will say, 'I don't know if I have anything left in the tank,' and we're thinking, 'What is this guy talking about?' He's 70 years old and overthrowing us in practice -- a lot," Jennings said.

Do you guys ever get tired of watching the Packers destroy the Vikings?

Me neither.

8-1.

(Every time I see "86" though I still think "Antonio Freeman"...)

I'm so happy they're Leaping again.

I'm a Nick Barnett fan myself. Great article about him here.

And it looks like we may have some semblance of a running game after all. Which is awesome.

Did you see all the female cheeseheads in the stands yesterday? All the men were out hunting, apparently. Or that's how they spun it on Fox. Looks like fun to be in Green Bay these days. At least on Sunday.

these patriots have thoroughly purged all remnants of that over-achieving sorry-ass squad from their system.

these are the new cold-blooded patriots.

they stretch the rules, they run up the score, they don't even punt on 4th down any more fer cripe's sakes...

That's a great article! I didn't know he was such a freak. (I mean that in the best possible way. All good football teams have to have their share of freaks.)

I liked this, from Lee:

Quote:
"I'm glad that he trusts me enough to just throw me the ball," Lee said. "I try to work hard each and every day during practice, so I can earn his trust. I just thank God he's looking to throw it my way."

Not the God part so much as the "earn his trust" part. That struck me as being nice and humble, and shows that he has a good work ethic too. Very Packersish.

I'm thinking that Thanksgiving will be another lock-the-family-in-the-basement day... if I give 'em enough turkey they should be happy. (Sozlet thinks she likes football but if I actually try to watch with her she gets aggressively bored after about an hour. At least she's picking up the lingo. ["Nice pass!" "Wasn't that interference?"])

I know. It's kind of scary. They're (Patriots) like football's version of Russian nemesis Ivan Drago from Rocky IV.

Fun fun fun!

I was finishing up cooking during the first half (dashing in to the family room [where the TV is], yelling a bit, dashing back to the kitchen) (I did manage to see two touchdowns that way) but got to watch almost all of the second half. So fun.

I loved it all but to pick out one thing... usually when I'm doing that sort of multitasking I'll watch offense and skip defense. This time I couldn't bear to 'cause I wanted to see what the defense was up to, too. I like those guys!!

Everyone seems to be having fun. Lots of smiles, lots of gimmicks. (I've gone over my gimmick theory of winning, right?)

10-1!! Whoo-hoo!

I can only pray to God that the Packers make it to the Super Bowl so I can watch the Patriots dismantle them in a cold, calculating fashion, making them their bitches, toying with them, taunting them. But, that will not happen.

Dallas will be the NFC representative and the Packers will be watching from their putrid igloos back in that god-forsaken city by the lake.

And Favre will began his rehearsal for next year's "I am thinking about retiring. Would the populace of Wisconsin like to fellate me and persuade me to stay?

Such is life in the NFL.

I'm sorry I had to be so hard on soz, since she is one of the few cheeseheads, along with Gargamel, that I can tolerate, but someone has to put the Packers in their proper place.
