Did anyone else catch the mighty Packers Season-Preview yesterday? The Packer defense recorded seven sacks, forced six turnovers and scored two touchdowns on fumble returns as they thoroughly dominated an admittedly weak Seattle Offense. Meanwhile; the Packer Offense did the same thing to a supposedly solid Seattle Defense (Starters and Backups, alike). Will Blackmon made some cuts that would break your average human's ankles during an 83 yard kickoff return (looked VERY Desmond-like). James Jones neither looked like a rookie nor a 3rd round draft pick… he looked like a young Terrell Owens. Brandon (action!) Jackson was all over the place! Solid running and good blocking to boot. He looks like he'll be solid in a one two punch with Morency… maybe even as the "one". DB Atari Bigby (think Predator) literally flew over his opponents to record 2 sacks. VERY exciting. Hawk, Poppinga and Barnett will be a force to be reckoned with too! KGB looks great as well! I don't think anything could have made me happier than to see not one or two… but 6 Lambeau Leaps! Don't think those boys don't want to taste that love again! Conclusion: They….. could…… go…… all…… the…… way!

6 Lambeau Leaps!! Great!

A.J.'s my guy, he went from my favorite college team (OSU) to my favorite NFL team (do I really need to say?) Glad he's doing well.

Thanks for the summary, I'd entirely missed this.

I expect the Bears and the Vikings to have a fairly competitive fight for the top of the NFC North this year, while the Packers and Lions claw at each other in a futile fashion to escape the dank smell of the basement.

Very Happy The mighty Green Bay Packers begin the season by prevailing in a nail-biter against the 7th ranked team in the NFL (Philly). Defense and special teams were outstanding and appear to be a force to be reckoned with. Don't be fooled by the low offensive numbers, if you missed the game. Favre looked WAY better than the numbers suggest, and was really only a few dropped passes and deserved interference calls from having a great game himself. They did a good job of holding our rush, but our boys delivered on some key plays. A couple of classic Brett Favre circus stunts in heavy traffic resulted in big plays too! Very fun game to watch. Didn't suck to see the Bears get their a$$es handed to them either.

And how could I forget...

Pictured below is the Packers newest stud: Mason Crosby

Making the team out of training camp.

Check.

Making a 53-yard field goal on your first NFL attempt, long enough for second all-time in team history.

Check.

The first rookie kicker in club history to kick a game-winning field goal since Chris Jacke on Dec. 3, 1989, against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the first rookie in the entire NFL to kick a game-winning field goal on opening day since Matt Bahr did it in overtime for the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sept. 3, 1979.

Check, and check.

One might go a whole career in order to achieve the aforementioned feats.

It took Mason Crosby one game.

Yeah, that kid's got a boot. That 53-yarder could have been good from 60 (and what's the record? 63?).

As that was happening, I was talking to a friend about how much I like not having to give up big chunks of every Sunday to football.

I take that all back.

(I'm so watching the next game!)

Damn it Soz, I can tell by your lack of celebration; you missed another great game by the STILL undefeated Packers. And where the heck is Brooklyn? Sad

Now I remember what a great thing it is to have defense. Granted, we lack depth on the bench, but if we can keep games close, I'll take #4 down the stretch over any quarterback in the league.

Next week is the real test. How nice would an early season upset be?

VERY nice.

I'm so glad they got A.J. Hawk. Has he been doing stuff? I've always liked Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila.

He's made a huge difference. Not only by his individual performance, but his presence in the middle allows guys like Barnett to make plays where they couldn't before.

Excellent!

I'm so watching the next one, if I have to lock my daughter and husband in the basement to do so. (What kind of husband complains when his wife wants to watch football!?! Geez.)
