First, thanks to Gus for not saying anything horrible and violence-inducing.
You're welcome, soz. And, as a matter of fact, I had intended to come here and attack Occom Bill, but figured you might get caught in the cross-fire, so I backed off.
( I'm having a very difficult time restraining myself )
Gus; report to the A2K Football Pool thread and get it out of your system. Our darling Soz doesn't post there.
Thanks Gus, appreciated, truly. I actually didn't open this thread for a long time because I didn't know how I'd handle it if I saw something awful.
I was MAAAAAAD last night.
Now I'm doing better. More towards sad. (I had a little revelation last night, I was watching during one of the more nail-biting parts and I was practically physically sick and I had this random thought, don't I watch football because it's fun to watch? Why am I purposely putting myself through this torture? What's the point? Fun? Bah!)
Oooh, that was a painful one.
Hugs back, Bill.
<note to self: stay far, far away from the A2K Football Pool thread...>
An interesting - and likely relevant - bit of trivia, Soz; two of the most solvent, financially secure, loyally-followed entities among all sporting organizations are the Pack and the Cubs. Obviously, winnin' ain't everything.
When the game was 0-14, the Vikings had intercepted another pass, and Lambeau Field was terribly silent, I accepted an invitation to go to the movies... maybe not the fan thing to do, but good for pain avoidance.
Go Jets!
Man the Packers Got OWNED at Lambeau....
So what's in the future? Gotta go out and get a defensive line...in fact maybe a whole new defense.
Brett will be back after he licks his paw, he's having too much fun.
Yeah, he'll be back. He's getting old, though, this may have been his last realistic chance. Grumble grumble.
Timber, yep. I tell myself that I can't in good conscience cheer at the good parts if I don't groan at the bad parts. Fair weather fans are dumb. Just, if there were more good parts, that would be, like, really nice. ;-) :-(
I haven't quite been able to remove the cheesehead yet. Maybe next Sunday, a week of mourning first.
Brett had an above average year, even for him, so there's no reason to leave. Always a chance with him in the game. I hate football after the Pack is out of it. Depressing.
Yep.
<sits alongside Bill, shoulders slumped, staring into middle distance>
Oh brief break in depression to get REALLY MAD at stupid greedy McKenzie.
Well the Brett Favre watch has begun. He had a 45 minute closed door meeting the other day. I think he'll be back but you never know.
Sherman just got stripped of his GM job. Ted Thompson takes over at that position.

Ya, I saw that in the news this morning... but am still too bummed to want to talk about it. Oh how I wish Ron Wolf would come out of retirement for one more year.
You bummed at Sherman losing GM??
Na. Bummed about the season being over. I don't know Thompson from Adam so I've no reason to doubt him.
Well he can't do to much worse than Sherman... I mean really, who the heck trades up to get a punter anyway?
If Favre sticks around and they improve on defense you should have an exciting next year.
Re-signing the O-Line is going to be costly so I don't know how much will be left for D. On the other hand, Favre's contract has yet to be restructured, so there's still tons of cap-room that could be had there. Brett would certainly be open to it so let's see what this Thompson's made of!
There is now way they are going to be able to keep the entire O-line. Most people seem to think Rivera is the odd man out. Hes a little bit older and a little bit more expensive.
D should be on top of the list anyway. A few key people in pass coverage positions and this season might still be going.
Without the O-line, Favre might not still be going. McKenzie screwed us bad. Carroll played his heart out, but couldn't fill his shoes... and that meant dedicating a safety. By guaranteeing more of Brett's dough, they could free up millions. To keep him safe; that's seed corn I'm willing to eat.
