Hello, everyone. I just stopped in to drop something off. I'm trying to clear out all this stuff on my computer so I'm depositing stuff on the various threads around A2K. I'll just put this one right here....

Now this is funny. Fake Moon gets fine of $10,000 despite it being payback to the fans really mooning the Vikings Bus. Laughing When asked for comment Moss said " What the bleep do I care about $10,000. Bleep. I make $10,000 every time I shake my bleep. Laughing (My quotes might be slightly off, but I'm not making this up. I swear! Laughing)

Bill, should I assume that you and Sozobe, and perhaps Jpin, will be furiously cheering on the purple this Sunday?

I can't say it would bother me one iota if they won the Superbowl, Gus. For some reason, I've never made a habit of rooting against the Vikes (like the hated Bears, Cowboys and Tampa in later years). As for furiously cheering Rolling Eyes If I manage to get up the interest to watch football at all again this year, I'll only be furiously cheering if I gamble.

My dad's a diehard Viking fan. Or was -- he visited before that last game and I convinced him to be a Packer fan. Really. He hates Moss, he hates how the Vikes always choke, he can't stand that Tice gave Bush a Vikings jersey, so he switched sides.

So, I fully accept reponsibility, as my dad's fandom is known to be the kiss of death for any team, and I had my chance to dissuade him.

I'm not sure where he is now -- if he still refuses to be a Vikings fan (though I don't know who that means he WOULD be rooting for), bet on them to win the Super Bowl.

(Seriously, that would be my only consolation, as my dad has suffered in Vikings fandom much, much longer than I've suffered in Packers fandom. I was only a fan for like 3 years before they won the Super Bowl. Spoiled, spoiled me.)

I would like to take this opportunity to explain my interaction on this thread. First my allegiance to football lies elsewhere. I merely pass along information that I get first hand being in Wisconsin... kind of a public announcement to all packer fans not able to get packer news right away. Second I quite enjoy the playful banter of Gus so subtly mocking Packer Nation if and when a lose should occur. Third, whenever Occom Bill, and Soz are on the same thread the conversation is bound to be good.

Fourth:

Bear Down, Chicago Bears
Make every play, clear the way to victory!

Bear Down, Chicago Bears
Put up a fight with a might so fearlessly!

We'll never forget the way you thrilled the nation
With your T-formation

Bear Down, Chicago Bears
And let them know why you're wearing the crown!

You're the pride and joy of Illinois,
Chicago Bears, Bear Down!!

Looks Like we'll all be waiting for next year!!

Yeah, I'd get rid of that too if I was you Gus. Especially after the ass whopping they just got.

Loved the person in the crowd holding up the sign that said: Who's ahead now Randy! Razz

Oooh, they lost!!!

I thought I'd be pretty much neutral, if they won well it meant we lost to an actual good team rather than a flukey one, well at least my dad would be happy, etc.

But no.

I'm really, really happy they lost. Woo-hoo!!

This thread reminds me when I was a lifeguard at the community pool and the first week of September heralded the end of another season.
The decks were scrubbed. The diving boards were stored away and a couple of lawn chairs were thrown in the pool to thwart the winter ice.
Everyone was off to college or Europe...everyone was leaving a glory season behind til next year.
Soz, ease Bill's cheese off his head, close down the thread...til next year.

Bye Bye.

Weeelllll, we still have to talk about off-season intrigue -- will Brett be back? What moves will the new GM make? (I agree with that decision btw.)

But I know what you mean.

Thompson was Ron Wolf's assistant director of pro personnel from 1992-2000. Short of Wolf himself, he has to be as good of candidate as there is. He spent the last 5 years as vice president of football operations for the Seattle Seahawks. God knows Holmgren's coached them out of contention repeatedly, but not for lack of talent on that football team. Idea No way Brett retires. He's still at the top of his game.

I can't bring myself to give up the cheese just yet, Panz. Sad

It's sad but strangely liberating, ain't it?

That's a nice picture though! You look much less frat boy.
