Nimh - I know - I merely found Mick's comment to be interesting and posted for those that may not have seen it.

Do you know if the US participation in observing other countries' elections is through the UN? Just curious.

it says not such good things about our country that this is being considered for the first time, that i've heard of.

but, i guess it's to be expected. america can't arbitrarily go sticking their nose in the world's business and expect to be exempt from scrutiny by the rest of it's inhabitants.

and, no. i don't care for it either.

What disturbs me is that the rest of the world will see that the image of the US as being the arbiter of fair play, honesty and democracy is a mirage

Only if the democrats continue to let dead people and illegal immigrants vote.

Then by all means, let them point that out as well. But my guess they'll be rather caught up with massive disenfranchisement effort already underway by Republican neoconservative operators who are being paid $100 to harrass voters.

You can buy a lot of cigarettes with that kind of money.

Besides, isn't America the LEADER of the FREE world? Aren't we suppose to set an example of how democracy works? Afterall, Bush claims that Afghanistan is a free democracy now, and that Iraq will be very soon.

I'd have to say the harrassment trophy goes to the Democrats.

Shootings into campaign HQs.
Swastikas burned into lawns.
Yard signs being stolen on a large scale.
Vandalism and road rage

They are getting more violent everday. Don't forget how they are working hard to register voters now, especially the terrorists and crack heads!

Dems Register al-Qaida Terrorists in Ohio Vote Drive

In a bid to get out the vote for John Kerry, Democrat activist groups in Ohio have registered at least two known terrorists involved in a plot to blow up a shopping center.

Nuradin Abdi, a Somali immigrant and admitted al-Qaida member who was indicted earlier this year as part of a conspiracy to blow up the Columbus Mall, was registered to vote by the left-wing group ACORN, according to the Columbus Dispatch.

ACORN has spearheaded an aggressive Democrat vote drive in the battleground states.

Iyman Faris, another new Ohio voter added to the rolls by Democrats, is serving a 20-year jail sentence for his role in surveilling potential al-Qaida targets, including the Brooklyn Bridge, the Dispatch said.

According to Ohio News Now TV network, Abdi's name was added to the rolls by ACORN employee Kevin Eugene Dooley as part of the group's Project Vote operation.

Dooley was indicted earlier this year on two felony election offenses: false election registration and submitting false election signatures to the Ohio Board of Elections.

"As far as board of elections is concerned, Abdi is a registered voter," Ohio board of elections director Matt Damschroeder told ONN.

Only after Abdi's case was exposed did Ohio officials strike his name from the voting rolls, because of his status as an illegal alien.

Faris became a naturalized citizen in 1999 but is not eligible to vote because he's an incarcerated felon.
