The Netherlands set up global safe abortion fund to counter Trump cuts

The Netherlands' Government announced the fund to compensate for US ban on abortion funding.

The Dutch Government has held preliminary discussions on the initiative with other European Union members who have responded positively, a foreign ministry spokesman said.

Governments outside the EU, companies and social institutions will also be approached to participate.

So, Dutch Land is going to fly pregnant American women to their country and give them abortions and all the pot they can smoke and then send them home?

Why the snarky attitude? This measure is not being taken to provide services for women in the USA. The focus is on women who live in under-developed countries where reproductive health services aren't as easy to access. There was nothing about providing anyone with cannabis — how did you come up with that far-fetched notion?

I know what the focus is on, Trump signing an executive order blocking foreign aid or federal funding for international nongovernmental organizations that provide or "promote" abortions.

It's good to see others step up. Marijuana use is legal in the Netherlands.

I swear to god you guys have no sense of humor. Especially Walter. He is like Drax in Guardians of the Galaxy.

Not at all - only the the possession of a maximum amount of five grams cannabis for personal use is not prosecuted (keyword: "gedoogbeleid")

My knowledge of Dutch (criminal) law is just university of applied science level (hogeschool), and I'm not reallyfluent in Netherlands either - but drug law in the Netherlands isn't related at all to the topic here.
