When it comes to prescription meds, it seems like drugs purchased from Israel might be far cheaper than those bought in the USA. Have you considered sending your Rxs to Israel to be filled?
Some sample prices recently observed in a newspaper:
Drug .................... ....US............Israel
Allegra (120 mg)............ $214.........$67
Anafril (25 mg).............. 58 ..........37
Fosamax (70mg)............ 172........117
Lipitor (10mg)............... 173....... 123
Zocor (20mg)................ 334.......169
All prices are for a 3 month supply of the medication.
$15 handling fee. USA company forwards Rx and payments to Israel.
Do you think that drugs bought from the Middle East in this manner are reliable from a therapeutic perspective?
This post is not an advertisement. It's merely a post for information and discussion about the cost of medications in the USA and elsewhere.

Sometimes, it also pays to buy in bulk.
New Haven- As you probably know, I am dealing with a 93yo mother who takes many many meds. I could open a pharmacy with the medications that were prescribed for her, and then discontinued for one reason or another.
I have bought 90 day supplies over the internet for her, but only with stuff that I could be reasonably sure that she would still be taking three months after I bought it!
Phoenix:
I think ( my own opinion ) that the elderly and others are better off if they
take few, if any drugs. The more meds forced on patients, the greater the potential for side-effects , with one result being the patients refuse to take their meds.
Also...with a large # of meds, the patients become confused and overdose as well as underdose...both situations have the potential of being very serious.
The major Israeli drugs manufacturer, Teva Ltd. is a company with its stock sold through NASDAQ [NASDAQ:TEVA]. It is one of the world's largest manufacturers of the generic drugs, and it accurately follows the patent holders' technologies and know-hows. Therefore, the drugs manufactured by Teva are identical to the original ones. They are cheaper, since the average salaries in Israel are lower than in the USA (about $17,500 a year).
New Haven- You are right. The problem is, my mom has multiple problems that require medication. One time she had this idiot doctor who had her so zonked, that she kept falling. I changed her doctor, who evaluated and changed all of her medications. Now she is doing fine.
My concern may be with the Nevada intermediary.
What's the consumer's protection, when they buy meds outside of the USA>
Yes, Teva is an excellent pharmacetical company.
