hamburger is beth's dad.....
If vegimite is even 10% of Marmite, I will still faint the moment someone opens its bottle
Oh my, maybe you should have your blood pressure checked Gautam.....
If Vegemite is a yeast extract, this must be a healthy food rich in B group vitamins.
stiessd, that's one of it's selling points. As margo said previously, it's the secret ingredient in Australians!!! We are raised on the stuff. I need some more. My jar is almost empty.
But what about taste? What does it resemble (I mean if we compare it to the internationally existing food stuffs)?
NOTHING!!!! Well, Promite - but Promite is wetter and sweeter.
Gautam, as Jane Austen said: "Run mad as often as you choose, but do not faint."
And you a healthy young chappy with no corsets to excuse such behaviour!
Er....you DON'T wear corsets, do you?
Well, I have found a
Vegemite site, it is quite an informative one, but it does not make any hint on the product taste.
By the way, Promite that is suggested as a reference meal to get an idea of the Vegemite's taste is not a meal of the international cuisine either, it is also a kind of the Australian specialties.
Steiss -- it's brown and viscous. Looks a lot like axle grease with flour mashed up in it. And tastes like ground anchovy butts.
Patio is an expert on the butts of anchovies!???
THUD!
Oh, get up, you drama queen. Sometimes fish butts are all that are left in the ashtray the morning after a party, all the fish having been smoked.
hmmmmmm -- fair enough.....
about that swede who took a liking to vegemite... he must have thought that it was the fermented fish that at least some scandinavians seem to like. locals told us that you drink plenty of ice-cold beer with aquavit as a chaser when eating the fermented fish and it has hardly any taste at all! now that should make a lovely bedtime snack! germans like a kind of semi-fermented herring (called matjes - don't ask why); you eat it with real dark rye bread (not the sissy soft stuff), lots of RAW onion and again have icecold beer and aquavit with it. i'm sure you agree that it is far more tasty than vegemite, right....?
Vegemite is yuck, so the Aussies can have it.
Ill keep Marmite any day.
i'd give it a try if i could find some. my mother used to make us drink brewers yeast powder mixed with juice when we were kids. got used to it after a while.
We used to drink tomato juice regularly at home. I'm not sure why our mother bought tomato juice. c.i.
