Very Happy I do believe that hebba is correct. That song was sung by Bobby Vinton. I was feeling a bit silly last night, and folks were fighting, etc.
Squinney, when you said that your lips were sealed, I thought of that little ditty.

Msolga, you don't WANT to hear Blue Velvet. hee hee.

I prefer that song by Vaughn Monroe. Perhaps because I grew up to it.

Vaughn Monroe did "The Things" as well as Frank Sinatra

Good grief.

The Things We Did Last Summer Lyrics (Frank Sinatra)

Frank Sinatra - The Things We Did Last Summer Lyrics
The boat rides we would take, the moonlight on the lake
The way we danced and hummed our fav?rite song
The things we did last summer I?ll remember all winter long

The midway and the fun, the kewpie dolls we won
The bell I rang to prove that I was strong
The things we did last summer I?ll remember all winter long

The early morning hike, the rented tandem bike
The lunches that we used to pack
We never could explain that sudden summer rain
The looks we got when we got back

The leaves began to fade like promises we made
How could a love that seemed so right go wrong?
The things we did last summer I?ll remember all winter long

<brief instrumental>

I?ve tried so to forget, at times I do, and yet
The memory of you lingers like our song
The things we did last summer, I?ll remember
all winter long

Confession: I never liked Bobby Vinton. Razz

Ceili, Right. Funny story about that song. We played a gig at a high school prom and I sang it. One kid came in with his date, replete in tux and pleated shirt. He had on white bucks and white socks. Our drummer said, "My God. I thought the kid had both feet in casts."

I remember a little of the song:

Roses are red my love,
Violets are blue,
Sugar is sweet my love,
But not as sweet as you.

Is that your little girl,
She looks a lot like you.
Some day some boy will write,
In her book too.

etc.etc.etc.

If you truly want to hear Blue Velvet, Please Love Me Forever and There I've Said it Again, you have to go further back than Bobby Vinton.

Back to Racing With the Moon and Vaughn. Never liked him either, edgar. He was referred to as vitamin voice. Trying to remember the guy from England who sang Nina Never Knew.

Sheeeeeeze, Msolga. Sorry. I'm still looking for Grand Duke. Embarrassed

I don't want to think about Bobby Vinton, it'll make me hear him, and then I'll be rewinding and playing it in my mind tomorrow..

Vaughn Monroe I barely remember, but I did like his voice.

(I think.)

Vaughn Monroe played trumpet, panz? My word. Just thought of the Brit who sang Nina. Matt Monro.

He also did When "Sunny Gets Blue". Someone told me that he was a bus driver.

When sunny gets blue,
Her eyes get dark and cloudy,
And the rain begins to fall.

Pitter patter, pitter patter,
Love is gone so what's the matter,
No sweet lover man comes to call.

When sunny get blue,
she breathes a sigh of sadness,
Like the wind that's in the trees.

Wind that starts the leaves to swayin'
Like some violin a playin'
Weird and haunting melodies.

(bridge)

People use to love to hear her laugh,
See her smile,
That's how she got her name.
Since that sad affair,
She's lost her style,
Changed her smile,
Somehow love's not to blame.

But memories will fade,
And pretty dreams will rise up,
Where her other dreams fell through.
So hurry true love, hurry here,
And kiss away each lonely tear,
and hold her near when Sunny gets blue.

In memory of my close friend, Bill, who sang it so well.

Bobby Vinton was GREAT. One of the best Bobbys, definitely.
Jack Jones did a cheesy "Nina Never Knew".
I think Nancy Wilson and George Shearings "Things we did last Summer" swings rather sweetly...

So what happened to Setanta?
