Diane sent back an update, Jo still hasn't opened up the computer and Diane said she just doesn't seem interested. She agrees it would do her good, but I'm stumped right now. To me it sounds a little like depression. Again, this is just my take on the information, but I think we all know as we get olde 'new' systems can be daunting. I'm sure she can do it, it just might take someone helping her set it up.
I had a basic cell phone for ever, then one year mr. g'bag gave me an iPhone and my spirits sunk. I know, I know I should have been thrilled, but the first few days I couldn't master the f%@$ing buttons to text and nothing seemed easy, not texts, not email.. nada. The very first time I sat down to try and conquer it I fiddled for about two hours stressing and cursing. Then I set the cursed thing down, took two xanax and slept for a few hours.
I figured it out not long after, but I understand its awkward adjusting to new equipment. Maybe Jo is a little overwhelmed. I'll send another note to Diane and see if I can't set up some help for her. Maybe I can get the geeks to set it up. But I'll check with Diane first and see what she thinks.
If anybody else has an idea, I'd be happy to hear, I think some members have met her and know her better than I do,.....Let me know what you think, please.

Yes, you're right. I love her to death, but she's very independent. It's good to be independent, I just hope she isn't isolated.

Her old computer seemed almost sacred to her. I guess she can't bring herself to settle for an inferior brand.

I can't understand how she can be so stubborn, and deprive herself of internet access.
Can she afford the fee for internet service? If that is a problem, I am sure we can help her out.

How do the drivers hold up if not used for a few years after manufacture?

Fine. They don’t spoil that quick.
The reason I asked my question is because I have an older computer that never wore out, but the drivers no longer function and I never could get replacements to work. So it is completely useless.

Sorry, but there are a lot of folks out there who have difficulty with using their computers. My wife is one of them, so I figured "PCs for dummies" would be helpful. Sorry for disappointing some of you.
