Bit of a weird one this: Can anyone tell me the latin words for 'maple' & 'ash' (as in types of wood)?
Thanks!
"Maple" is "acer"--it comes up frequently in crossword puzzles. What kind of ash tree do you have in mind?
Welcome to A2K.
latin translation
thanks Noddy!
I'm not sure what kind of Ash tree i have in mind - I didn't know I had options!! Is there not a general term for an ash tree?
whoever thought there would be so many different types of ash tree!
Thanks for your help!
From that botanical list "Fraxinus" seems to be the generic name for ash trees.
