CR, it's important because such an assertion by Cheney is quite damning. That a senator could go 4 years without ever meeting the vice president (who is a leader in the senate, can't remember which one) would indicate that he never showed up for work. That's quite an accusation.

We expect candidates to spin and exaggerate in the debates, but this one is a doozy.

You scare me Free. You post some intelligible stuff here and then post the above, saying you don't know which senate Cheney is a leader in? Out of the kindness of my heart, I will give you a free civics lesson.

There is only ONE (1) Senate. Not two. So that ought to make it easy to remember next time which one he is a leader in. There are TWO (2) houses of Congress, which may be what has confused you. As often as you post here, a person would think that you would at least be a bit knowledgable on how our government is organized.

Though I suppose I deserve a scolding for not scrolling up in my own thread to read that he is president of the senate.

Ah well, I apologize for my civics lesson comment then. But you must admit the wording is a bit confusing. And just so you know, the VP is president of the Senate.

Can we pass on that? I really don't think my wife will understand.

Hey, Cheney suggested we go to factcheck.com. I think that's a great idea.

Hell, that OR .org. It was pretty stupid of him to mention THAT site at all, as they have plenty of dirt on ol' Cheney...

Factcheck.org has most of the correct answers on the misspeaks from both sides.

Or maybe Cheney is having early signs of Alzheimers and just can't remember.

Or perhaps John Edwards just wasn't that memorable.

I got to it. Good stuff. Here's the specific debate page, if that helps:

http://www.factcheck.org/article.aspx?docID=272

(Should I cut and paste the whole thing? Would be complicated with sidebars...)

Damn. I can't get in. Could you cut and paste the whole thing, sozobe? I, and others who can't get in, would be eternally grateful.
