Is it plausible, that everyone in the States could leave the country right now, leaving the entire place uninhabited?

No. They wouldn't get visas for one thing.

@contrex,
Isn't it possible that visas would have nothing to do with all people leaving the US?

@Thomas33,
So are you going with a massive Rapture of some sort and sinking into Hell for the others?

Or are you expecting a huge invasion of spaceships which beam up all the people in the U.S....

I take it this includes Hawaii, American Samoa, Alaska, Northern Marianas, Puerto Rico, etc.etc.

@Sturgis,
It includes all.
The underlying issue of the question is whether the idealism of freedom is true - if not all people could ever leave the US, is it still fair to say that those who couldn't leave are free?

Yes, of course, for some value of 'free'.

@Thomas33,
Most people don't have the money to travel outside the US.

@cicerone imposter,
This would just be revolution. No money context. Simply people vacating the country.

Again, why?

@Sturgis,
Because of reality's definition. Because of who people are - if they're the universe, shouldn't they at least be able to leave the States.

@Thomas33,
If they're "the universe", then shouldn't they be able to leave the planet?

@Sturgis,
They should, but by the point of planets it's possible that the symbolism is no longer valid.

@Thomas33,
Wouldn't that be a great idea. Imagine the millions of Americans flooding into Mexico or Canada. What would it take for this to happen? Maybe a catastrophic volcanic eruption in the Midwest, nuclear accident, biological plague, or dissatisfaction with Mr. Trump.

@seac,
Not nuclear bomb accident. There are too many safeguards on nuclear weapons, and they're fool proof. I worked with them back in the fifties; that's the reason there's not been any accidents. There were three safety switches when I worked with them. That may have changed in the past 50 years.
