Edit [Moderator]: Moved from General to History.

Have you lived past that war?
Have you suffered the pain and misery of that war?
What was your feeling when you drifted into that war?

dear seniors, share your stories to our youngsters.

sincerely, JB

John B, this thread is a good idea but I'm afraid there are fewer WW2 veterans every day. There is also the reluctance of many veterans to talk about their experiences. I could tell you about my fathers' life for he had a stroke and has lost chronological time order, but it wouldn't be the same.

reluctance. Oh yes panzade you are right.
I have thought about it before. Confused

quite....complicated.

Original thread of this topic was after i have read some impressive ordinary people's articles about the experiances of that war in BBC.com.
You know, the ordinary people's stories is much more fascinating and can inspire stronger emotion than the history books.

I agree JB, I'll see if I can find a list of books and articles for you to read. Also, how much do you know about China's role in WW2...that would be interesting to me.

well, china suffered about 3 quarters of Japanese Empire's army.
Kuomintung combated with 4-fifth, and Communist guerrila fought with 1-fifth. (in the past generation nearly nobody knew that Kuomintung cooperated with us and believed they were on the japan's side!)

Japan's invasion began in sept.18 1931 (ironically when the surrender ceremony ended on Missouri battleship, the time was 9:18.) 9.18 to China is like 12.7 to America. And we did nothing to resist Sad

The real war began in 1937---two years before the Eruope fell into the war.

About that war, i have many to say. So i will not talk about it too much here.

if you are interested in some parts of it.

At your service, sir Smile

I am very interested JB and wish you would start a thread on China and WW2
And I'm glad you now realize that the United states helped the Koumintung with men, airplanes and supplies.
