The California Voter Foundation is urging voters to vote by mail because of doubts raised over DieBold's e-voting machines. The president of VTF has cited a lack of confidence in electronic voting systems, and made the following statement. "Our advise is to cast your ballots on paper." I think this is good advise for all voters, irregardless of state or county.
Even if voting by mail, I would send it Return receipt requested.
I would then want it sent to my party (not the Sec. of elections). Then my party would need to make two copies, one to keep and one to send to the other party for verification of voter info / registration/non duplication. The original could then be sent to the sec. of elections and that number would have to match each individual party tally.
Then, I might trust that my vote was counted.
Will that process be accepted by all counties?
Hehe! Probably won't be accepted by any counties. It was just my idea of how it would need to work for me to trust the counting of my vote.
I have no idea what the real procedures are.
