i just wanted to know if you can get aids by giving head?if you know please reply.
Yes. Unless you use a condom and it doesn't break.
You certainly can. Any gum lesions can allow the transfer of Aids.
Well - seriously: no.
1.) before you get AIDS, you must be infected by HIV.
2.) Those HI-virusses must get into your blood circulation.
So
2 a) you must have a (small) open wound
Since blood per se and by it's own nature transports 'invaders' out of the system
2 b) you must press the HI-virus into the blood circulation.
3) You must get the virus from someone, who is infected.
Walter is correct. HIV can be transferred by unprotected oral sex if one partner is infected, and one or both have some sort of lesion or open sore. HIV can develop into full-blown AIDS, but it doesn't always. Direct transfer of AIDS from sex of any kind is virtually impossible. Getting HIV is the serious risk.

I really should: I taught "HIV/AIDS prevention" at university
Well then, I was a teen in the '80s, so I received that education, although on a different continent.
If in doubt, get tested. (Or better yet, get you and your partner tested.) There are places that do it cheaply and privately - even so your insurance company can't know.
I'm not sure about this, but I'm assuming planned parenthood would offer such a service.
Thank you Walter. You gave me some facts I had not known previously.
Just like to clarify, you can't actually catch AIDS. You catch the Human Immuno Deficiency Virus (HIV) which infects your system and breaks down your immune system to the point where your body can no longer sufficiently defend itself. AIDS is the resulting illnesses which the body suffers as a result of the immune deficiency.
Right, carrie - if I've perhaps missed to mention that on my response, then only because I thought it to be essential knowledge.
Sorry Walter, noticed you did mention it already. I think that I felt the need to explain as I was in a HIV and AIDS awareness group and it was a common misconception which many people knew nothing about.
