After my last visit to my Urologist for a complete prostate exam (ultrasound and biopsy) I was diagnosed with benign enlargement BPH.
I was asked if I wanted to start on the med Proscar, I declined. I would perfer to go the herbal treatment. I am looking at taking saw palmetto.
Has anyone have some experience take this herb for a period of time and if so, what results are you are having.
Also, I am finding some brands of saw palmetto have extra additives like pygeum, pumpkin seed oil, zinc and stinging nettle. My question is it better to just take saw palmetto by itself. Are the results more favorable with the added herbs.
Thanks for your help.

ted- i've been taking saw palmetto complex distributed byPhytoPharmica out of greenbay wisconsin. as far as i'm concerned, it's the best. it also contains pumkin seed extract, pygeum, & uva ursi. they recommend that you take a total of 160 mg/day. that would be 2 of these capsules. I get it at a compounding pharmacy & one of the technicians also takes it. works for me! laidbakguy
