Why is A2K showing old threads as 'New' (with the word 'new' next to the thread in red)? I know for certain that I've previously opened the last post on them, but they are still appearing as new. I even restarted my computer to no avail. What gives?

@snood,
Every once in a while, say ten days or so, every New I click on opens up in August. I've blamed it on my computer (for good reasons - talk about wonky), but coincidentally, it is happening again today. I'll report if it goes away, as usual, by itself.

I've never reported this to mods as it seems part of my oldie mac manifestations.

As an example, a returning a2ker tried to help me post a copy the other day, something I've done more easily than the advice of the new oldie for, say, 14 years, but, that day, was a one day wonk... so I try not to drag the mods into my computer drama. I doubt my Now it is August thing is related, but I suppose it could be.

@snood,
I have also noticed that when I click New on large threads I am taken to posts I've read months ago. It's annoying, but my second attempt always takes me to the newest unread posts in the thread

@roger,
By the way, pressing the F5 key in windows will get a screen refresh with about the same results as restarting the computer.

@roger,
What's more, if you press F5 together with Ctrl you'll also refresh your browser's cache.

@roger,
I didn't notice it was a matter re old threads that I keep up with (more or less).
Maybe we need more part twos... dunno.

@InfraBlue,
Didn't know that. I do know that Ctrl and rotating the mouse wheel will zoom in or out. Ctrl + Zero will restore the sizing to the default.

@edgarblythe,
No, for me it is being sent lot of pages back. Which is why I mentioned August.
Something like twenty times today. August is over.

Not to blame a2k, just what I deal with.

@snood,
That happens to me a lot. I don't give it too much thought. I think it's a fault in ones browser. It happens on my work computer (Internet Explorer) as well as my Android phone (Google Chrome).

It's annoying but I expect that it's only a mere nuisance.

Yeah, I'm not overly worried about it. There are significant things we can change, significant things we can't change, insignificant things we can change and insignificant things we can't change. This definitely goes in the last of the four categories.

That is what I like very much to find in ak2 forum, namely, the chronologically newly to wit latest posts published and for public viewing, but so far I have not found a foolproof way to it, it means the latest in date and in time posts published for public viewing.

Why do I need to find the chronologically latest posts published for public viewing?

So that I will know whether someone has at the latest time come up with a good thought at all, instead of useless thoughts.

I will continue to search, and report here when I find how to get to the most latest in date and in time published for public viewing, posts.

What I have been exposed to in web forums is that there is a webpage that displays all posts ordered in an absolutely chronological order by date and time: so that when a post is not replied to, it is automatically pushed backward and backward into as many years back, as the history of the forum makes it possible.

And any post that is published even to reply to a post several years published in the past, that new post comes forth to the top of the webpage, which is to wit into displaying all posts that are the latest in their respective threads – i.e. including posts which used to be fresh but now are resting in peace even in many past years.

So that when you want to bring back an old old old thread and the forum makes it possible for you to do so, you just have to 'reply' to the last post in the thread in which the last post was published, and its thread will be bumped up to the top of the webpage.

Now, dear readers here, let us sit back and await with bated breath this post from yours truly to come out at the top of a webpage, at all destined to display all the latest posts in date and in time, no matter that it is replying to a post that is resting in peace in many past years ago.

@Susmariosep,
See the top of the New Posts page, or click on New Topics. These are in the lighter blue line at the top of the page.

@ossobucotemp,
Here is the blue top line:

Popular • My Friends • My Topics • My Posts • My Tags • New Topics • New Posts

I will examine them and report back which ones are doing the job of giving notice to readers of the new posts published for public viewing.

I will search for notice of my new post here in this thread, the present one for which I will now click 'Reply'.

@Susmariosep,
You don't have to report back - I told you what to click.

The only posts that are are not public here are Private Messages between a2k members: these are called PMs for short.

Okay, here are my findings on notice of a my new post I have just seen published for public viewing, notice namely in the webpages listed in the blue bar at the top of every page:

• Popular = NO
• •
• My Friends = NO
• •
• My Topics + NO
• •
• My Posts = YES
• •
• My Tags = NO
• •
• New Topics = NO
• •
• New Posts = NO

That is the disappointment, namely, that it should logically have come out as notice of a new post, in the webpage of New Posts: but no, it does not come out there, that’s not logical of a2k.

What sayeth ye folkes here?
