Don't talk to her, Phoenix.
She's one of those newbies.
Oh... and you don't think she should be frightened by a cyclops?
Thanks for the acknowledgement Phoenix...(little giggles.)
I understand your WARNING sign regarding Mr. Ratzenhofer. I have already had a taste of Gus on other threads.
(Oh boy! Let's watch the jokes role onto the screen.)
I have it on good authority that gus is officially a cyclops himself. He mishandled his stick, and you know, things happened.
he DOES look a little...well...cyclopoid...
I'm still wondering about the overalls. They look vaguely Osh Kosh B'Gosh.
Things will improve once the US election is over. (Oh, I'm not talking about Gus' overalls ... I mean A2K, particularly the political discussions)
msolga- So true. I think that this election has brought out the worst in people, on either side. Personally, I am weary of the whole thing, and can't wait until it is all over.

Shirley you jest.
please don't call her Shirley......(playin' along)
As a newbie, I've also noticed a downfall in the last few days from my perspective... I attributed it to the quality of my posts and the lack of direct responses to me...
I fell in love with A2K, so this is a difficult blow to me too... I hope it returns to the previous happier state because there are many interesting people here... maybe it's better if I have a read phase
What on earth was happening last week/ month/ season/year?! I must've missed something good.
I have been wrestling with a phone line as tempermental as Gus after a fruitless evening chasing livestock, though, so every time I actually get through it's a little halleluiah. Probably makes thing seem more interesting than they are.
JoeFX, you're a very welcome new member here. I've liked your posts.
This isn't directed to JoeFX, but all -
on the matter of acknowledgement of peoples' posts, it is hard to do every time, and if we do it for every post on every forum, the conversation gets downright unnatural. I don't need/want to be addressed constantly, myself, by name, in midst of conversation. Mostly we use names naturally, when clarification seems important. Many of our posts are in response to one person's comment, but directed to readers in general too. And once in a while a post is a way of talking to oneself, sounding out, rounding out, things in one's mind by typing them.
Which is not to say that I don't like to be addressed, I just don't feel left out if I am not. At least any more.
On philosophy and politics threads, I don't particularly expect to be responded to, as I don't really engage to argue points; I just pipe in once in a while with kind of a grace note or loud honk. Mostly my posts on those forums are a gesture to the conversation and may well be tangential, even if short. Since I know this disconcerts involved point-makers in these forums, I mostly just listen.
On other more chat filled forums, I also don't mind not being answered.. conversation has rhythms, ebbs and flows, and sometimes hies off in a direction that interests others. It's interesting.. when a conversation jumps in a different direction, sometimes a person who just got an email update, thus arriving at the forum where they last saw it, will see what you said and respond, perhaps pages later. Then that thread of conversation will restart..
I agree it is important to try to help newbies not feel outside of ... a nut that is hard to crack. I was sorry the other day, afterwards, when I suggested a newbie put her question in the relationships forum without trying to answer it; I should have at least said something about the question.

I saw that thread, osso, and I was shocked and appalled. Were you raised by wolves?!
Well, yes, panzade - you DO look a little stormy....
Have you thought of rotating in the opposite direction?
Wolves are very polite.
It pays to be so around so many big teeth...
I've tried to change my rotation but I'm sorta left leaning.
