Every board I go to has a "no personal attacks" rule, but they still do it. Though a trainwreck, it offers a lot of entertainment (at times) for people, making them want to come back.

When these boards have a dry spell of this, people start asking why the board is boring.

I'm not saying I'd like to see this here because I don't, just wondering if there has maybe been a decrease in that (if there ever was any on this board). I never run into it on the general board/relationships/tv.

I'll never look at that hurricane avatar the same way again!

Kicky (notice I specifically address the poster who addressed me, who..) - yes, I was raised by wolves, it was very cool.

Interesting thoughts, Joahaeyo. Yeah, things have gotten a little bitter in a few forums, from time to time, and we do seem to be in some sort of mellow trough, at the moment. That's surprising as we approach the election in the US, but maybe so much has been said, there really is nothing left.

Do you really believe that there's nothing left to say? How can that be?

That's a good point, Jo and roger. The Kerry sucks no Bush sucks gets old even to the participants.

I have let several new restatements of SBVfT lies go by because I just don't want to get into it AGAIN, even though every time I've done it thus far they cry uncle at the end. That's kinda satisfying in its way, but not over and over and over and...

I've become addicted to beating mac11's top score on my A2Ker and word association game. I invented the game as a direct result of not enjoying A2K as much as I used to, so I thought I'd share it with you.

One good thing that's come out of it all is that I've been browsing forums & topics that I'd not normally bother with, looking for good candidates for a top score. I'm even considering penning a piece for Creative Writing, and the last time I wrote anything that wasn't non-fiction was when I was at school, about 12 years ago. I have no idea if it'll be any good, but I feel as if I have a few short stories in me and I'd like to know what the good folks of A2K think.

PS. Sorry to blatantly advertise the game. Embarrassed

I can't even pick a genre! If I was going to write a full-length book, it'd probably be fantasy/sci-fi, but I don't that style doesn't suit a short story as well, because of the need for loads of background/narrative to set the scene and describe the 'world' that the action takes place in. Hmm. Most of what pops into my head to write about is violent and possibly not suitable for A2K. Hmm.

Just re-read my last post, and would like to clarify that I'm not a psycho, abhor violence in its physical form, but for some reason find it easy to create in my mind. Does that make me a bad person? I guess I'll find out when I post my story.

I've been around awhile, but I'm still interested. I just don't read the postings of folks whose attitudes greatly offend me, or whose writing isn't interesting. I'd like to say that 'I don't mind' when no one responds to one of my windy posts, but that would be a lie. It is a character flaw that I DO cherish the good regard of others. Oh well.

The thing that bugs me? I would rather there be more folks who think, just a bit, before making pronouncements, and who care enough to proof read at least once their writing before final posting. I believe that folks too quickly go to the last post in a thread and jump in without acquainting themselves with what went before. Though some threads are very long, hidden in those are some real gems of thought and writing. Going back and reading what others have said is a wonderful way to get to know the "whole" person. We need to "listen" more and be a bit less quick to open our big mouths.

That's my rant today, and I intend standing by it. Actually, love youse guys ... both old timers and newbies.

Thanks for your compliments osso and bear...

I know there is no need to address the person directly, but being young and new in here it is very important to feel accepted and reading my username in posts does the trick... Smile

Right now, I think I'll write something in my profile as someone said earlier in the post...

ahserman you're one of those guys that I would probably get along with live and in person even though it many times doesn't seem like it from our posts.

When I think of you and me I think...in the 1965 he was a Tim Leary hippie and I was a Ken Kesey hippie......perhaps I'm wrong about you.....but one things for sure...you're either on the bus or off the bus
