A simple yelling thread would suffice, I think. You are too nice to be yelled at jp. General: The Primal Scream II: This time it's not personal. I love it!

It's those damn KIDS. They've got no respect...

...er, or, maybe it's cause of the upcoming election??

Nope. Definitely the KIDS!

This is some good advice here:

I have some suggestions, please do with them what you will.

Try to post intelligent answers to the thread topic from a different perspective.

Ignore people that you know push your buttons.

Research answers before poting them. Research both sides of the arguement/discussion.

Be nice.

Try not posting remarks you know will do nothing more than inflame the other side.

Start a thread on topics that interest you and then try to keep the thread on topic.

Take it one day at a time. maybe doing theme postings. Monday - economics, Tuesday - election, Wed. - war, Thurs. - environmental, etc...

Remember that you are only as interesting as what you post. If you post boring topics, you will be bored. If you post sad, morose topics, you will be sad and morose.

NEVER judge posters from one forum to another. If someone annoys you on the Politics forum, allow them the opportunity to not be pre-judged in the general forum.

Take each thread on it's own. It doesn't matter what was said on an old thread, some people haven't read those threads. Base your replies on the current thread.

Ok, I'll shut up now because I know you've probably heard this before, but, maybe this will cheer you guys up. A little.

That's correct.

You know, in the good old days, when there was respect towards the older generations (like: helping seniors crossing the street at red light etc), well, in those days, before Alzheimer was invented and hamsters were used to generate the electricity and not A2K, well .... what did I want to say?

If you help seniors across the street at the red light, I'm already worried.

Help them across the street at the green light, Walter!

Well, that's what they can, ehBeth - but jumping from lane to lane, getting cars to emergency stopps, .... seniors need some fun today.

our good friend gisela would drive mrs h crazy. gisela would ask her to go into town with her to do some window-shopping. gisela would start on one side of our main drag(princess street) and suddenly take mrs h's arm and drag her across the street -usually in the middle of the street between two intersections or at a red light. no sooner had she checked out the store-window on the other side, back she would zoom into the traffic. mrs h would usually come back exhausted with a little more gray hair from those excursions. gisela sadly died a few years ago, but i'm sure she is darting from one side of the milky way(or whereever she is) to the other and enjoying every minute of it. hbg

Lol!

There was a fabulous Monty Python skit about the organisation of old folk which existed to foul up traffic and generally make life hell for young people...

They had a network of observers, and, wherever traffic was flowing smoothly, a small squad of old folk would be sent out - on foot, or in old people cars - to smeg it up.....

In twenty years, THAT'S I!!!!!!

Well, I won't have time for such hijinks until I hit at least 70.

Hopefully, I might be able to afford to work part-time by then....

I really enjoy A2k...but I'm also new. Smile

I will tell you that I agree with Letty re: acknowledging others posts...esp. if they are directed at you. It's the only way that new people can feel accepted and a part of the community.

I know that I have offended a few people, because I can tell that they avoid me...Oh well. I didn't mean to offend...tell someone when you disagree or do not appreciate a comment! You may end up with someone who you feel is ok after all.

From a new person perspective, some of you guys are tough nuts to crack! It's like a clique around here.

Oh! let me also add..not everyone is a fantastic writer.
I'm here for many reasons, one of which is to learn to be a better writer. I'm at home all day with a newborn, good grief! I need the ole' brain to get de-jellied. Goo goo gah gah gets me no where at times.

I have seen some poor writing skills...but sometimes it gives me a good idea of who and where they are...an idea of where they are coming from. For ex: Mchol. I love her. She writes like she talks and is always trying to help. td181, who is a newbie, is the same way. Both delightful posters.

Actually it was 'The Late Show'. The biggest gag was:

'Traffic flowing smoothly? Sent out the Toyota Crowns!!'
