I'm so bored, I bore myself. Geez, what a depressing thread... BPBear, how could you be so cruel as to point out the elephant in the kitchen?

Everyone brought up reasons for this a2k malaise, except for the strange problem with the PM system. I've been dearly missing that. Maybe if someone could send us all sweet notes, we'd perk up?

Luckily for me, I found that Oristar loves poetry, except he didn't write this morning. He's probably bored with me, too. <boohoo>

This post has been colorized in a supreme effort to make it seem more interesting.

Oristar is a man? Shocked

My word, Piffka. I thought that hebba was Danish and a WOMAN! And that DOES make a difference.

Heehee... that's funny, Bear. I immediately thought of Frank Sinatra riding a geoduck. I'm feeling better already.

Letty -- Yep, a sweet Danish, except Hebba is really English. He lives in Copenhagen. As for Oristar, he said he was a he and I believe him.

$24/clam This link has a more realistic photograph.

Well Bear, *I* don't eat 'em - I don't care for shellfish. But, yeah, they are big business, though not as big as those postcards would have you believe.

so could I make a good living diving for geoducks by day and playing in a band and doing karaoke by night? I'm ready for a change in latitude and attitude......and one of my best friends lives in Seattle.....

Wow, that would be great if you moved to the PNW! I'd love it! We always need better entertainment and if you can scuba-dive, you probably could do well, but that's dangerous work and seasonal, 'course.

Folks make money diving, not just for g-ducks, but for octopi and sea-urchins. You need a boat and a partner, or you'd likely work for somebody who had that.

I have some suggestions, please do with them what you will.

Try to post intelligent answers to the thread topic from a different perspective.

Ignore people that you know push your buttons.

Research answers before poting them. Research both sides of the arguement/discussion.

Be nice.

Try not posting remarks you know will do nothing more than inflame the other side.

Start a thread on topics that interest you and then try to keep the thread on topic.

Take it one day at a time. maybe doing theme postings. Monday - economics, Tuesday - election, Wed. - war, Thurs. - environmental, etc...

Remember that you are only as interesting as what you post. If you post boring topics, you will be bored. If you post sad, morose topics, you will be sad and morose.

NEVER judge posters from one forum to another. If someone annoys you on the Politics forum, allow them the opportunity to not be pre-judged in the general forum.

Take each thread on it's own. It doesn't matter what was said on an old thread, some people haven't read those threads. Base your replies on the current thread.

Ok, I'll shut up now because I know you've probably heard this before, but, maybe this will cheer you guys up. A little.

Actually, that is all sound advice McG. Just as an example of not judging people from forum to forum, if I hadn't encountered you outside of 'politics', I wouldn't have known what a great sense of humour you have. That I think is key here, in terms of establishing an online community. I don't mind digression really, in case nobody noticed, but I am finding myself interested in seeing some topics in some forums stay 'on topic'.

I think the absence of Craven has dampened my fun--and the never-ending saga of the Vietnam war, and related docudrama...

We need new news.

And, not enough Roger, no Rae, no big issues... We've said everything.

Blot.

How about if I start a thread called "Yell at jpinMilwaukee"

Whenever you are bored or mad or just pissed off in general you can go to that thread and yell at me for no particular reason and about any topic you prefer. Anything yelled in that topic will be assumed to be not personal, therefore no feelings will be hurt. Depending on my mood that day I could either apologize for what ever it is you are yelling at me for or I could defend my stance...whatever it may be. That way we can all let off a little steam.

What do you think?
