A man comes across a team of men and a dog playing poker in a pub. At the bar a little later he says to one of the men "I have to say I have never seen anything so extraordinary before! I had no idea a dog could be taught to play cards, let alone poker. Such a clever creature..."
"Not sure about clever," says the man "whenever he gets a good hand he wags his tail."
Ah, that's great! Didja know that the famous Dogs playing poker painting is really called "A Friend in Need"? There's trivia for ya.
Odd name for that great work of art! Especially when its on velvet or satin or whatever surface those Elvis paintings are required by law to be painted on.
Well, in the "A Friend in Need" painting, one of the dogs is using his back paw to pass a card to another dog. Hence the title. See:
Now I get it, I've never noticed it before. Maybe my version (above fireplace) is a FORGERY!
Just a different original, surely.
Kidding, I don't have a fireplace. I don't have any paintings either, come to think of it.
