At this point whoever wins the chip will have a great narrative...

Warriors for capping a historic season (and pretty much anyone else for being the clear underdog)...
Cavaliers for both the underdog narrative and for Lebron's coming home and bringing a championship to Cleveland...
Thunder for overcoming the hardest path to a championship in NBA history (edging out the Rockets of 95 I believe, might have the year wrong)...
Raptors for being the Raptors for crying out loud! And for the first non-US team to ever win.

This has been a great season, too bad I haven't had time to watch many games.

@Robert Gentel,
I would love, love, love for Durant to win the title, but it won't hurt my feelings if the Dubs repeat. Anyone but LeBron.

@ehBeth,
Well, I'd love for the Raptors to put a whuppin on LeBron and the Cavs, but I'm afraid they're a mite too strong for them. I'm predicting another Cavs sweep.

@snood,
I'd be happy if the Raptors won game 2 and 3 (they never seem to win game 1 in a series and they are tiiiiired right now), but they did well against Cleveland in the season <shakes head>

I'm going with Cleveland in 5, but I could be surprised (either direction).

@snood,
That describes my position to a T. But for no good reason really other than not wanting to see the 90s Bulls legacy eclipsed by teams or players I do not think are better than they were (though Warriors are debatable). I just don't think LeBron is better than Jordan or the Warriors better than the Bulls and don't want their legacies to be better.

I don't think I'll stop rooting against LeBron until he stops having a cakewalk to the finals every year. The East is just too soft. I wouldn't mind if he just wins one more but he's cunningly positioned himself to be in contention every year.

@snood,
That would be amazing, but is just too unlikely for me to even get my hopes up about.

Well between Delly's usual heroics (he's such a shot of adrenalin whenever he comes in) and that monster slam from LeBron I seem to be firmly in the Cav camp again. (Poor sozlet was trying to do homework, I was watching with the sound off but couldn't help but roar at the slam dunk and she was all what what what??? But she appreciated it on the replay.)

@sozobe,
So, they dominate the East. They don't even have much competition - haven't since forever. Not much to make a whoop about, far as I can see. Beat some real competition.

@snood,
Well, it's fun to watch. Smile I'm sure that if they do in fact make it to the finals, that game will be tighter. But I don't see how it's their fault if the East is weak.

I was all-in for them last year, so it's fun to see the guys I liked then (Delly, LeBron, Shumpert, Smith) with some actual support this year. (Love, Irving, etc.)

@sozobe,
Meanwhile until that Raptor dunk just now the second half has been a lot less fun; everyone seems to just assume the game is over. No particular urgency.

@sozobe,
No, it's not their fault that the East is weak, but it helps keep King James the Chosen One in perspective that he plays in a weak conference.

@snood,
Well if we get into Chosen One territory, yeah, blech. I just appreciate his localness, the way he's matured as a player, his individual skills, and the way the team is gelling.

@sozobe,
I am with you. Seeing Lebron James finally bring a championship to his home sate would be good to see. That would solidify all his many basketball accomplishments. Where I differ with you is that I am rooting for Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, and the OKC Thunder team finally getting over the hump. Seeing Lebron win is okay, but I really really want the Thunder to become this year's NBA champions.

Well I guess the Cavs aren't going to cakewalk to the finals.

I'm familiar with the yummy fries dish, but not with this use of the word. Does that mean like 'gravy'?
