I can't disagree. I'm only beginning to learn about Skinner, behaviorism and other -isms. And thoughtful analysis is probably a good piece down the road for me... I appreciate your take on it!

I did have problems with the zero sum, because too many variables are unaccounted for. The professor made me pick a spot on the continuum--and I fussed about being pretty socially liberal, but pretty economically conservative (with high capitalist leanings...)

I'm happily anticipating Philosophy next quarter.

I may be able to have an even discussion with you on these matters in ....a year or two...

Disclaimer--

In no way do I support discrimination against so-called minorities.

Always question the premises and you will have a head start getting to the heart of the matter.

"Comme un Choeur des anges enivrés."

Don't forget that Bush is the one who eliminated "Head Start."

I was lineman for the county, and left my heart in San Francisco.

Then I was a lineman for the Gubmit and left my head in Baghdad...

Remember what the doormouse said. It wasn't play croquet with the queen of Hearts. Or is that a gerbil greeting this thread of late.

Bush is leading Kerry in Halloween Mask Sales:

if you are going for comprehensive then it's just my opinion to acknowledge the fact that capitalism and socialism are not the only two choices or rather, some folks hate them both. just like our country doesn't HAVE to have two party system, not implying that those two parties we have represent capitalism and socialism. there are those of us who are neither conservative nor liberal.

Wow, a post that addresses the thread topic!

dandelion,

I'd be most interested in alternatives of the nature you hint at. I'd like to add what you might have in mind.

I'll get back to ya on that one
I wish I had a good answer for you Craven, trust me. I'm not really down with the -ists and -isms, though. After spending so much time being a dedicated this or a dedicated that I've learned you can't find comfort or hope even in the answers that others provide because they always have ulterior motives. So I guess what I'm trying to find a word for is a way to organize things (organization=good) where there obviously must be an agenda but NO SECRETS. A Pro-Humans! approach Smile I don't believe anything like what I'm thinking of has been attempted on as large of a scale as the current situation demands. (at least not from the history of civilization as most scientISTS will tell it to you) I still hold to my belief that it's not impossible, people just need to be given the tools and they will do it for themselves. I've abondoned the revolution for evolution. So maybe the other option could be Evolved Collective Actualization or something like that....haha. Or maybe a Children First, Everything Will Fall Into Place After That way of doing things. I'm probably making no sense so I'll stop.

whatever it is, it is going to require teaching Logic to children (not just post-graduate students in Germany)

and none of that Evil or Very Mad Ayn Rand Evil or Very Mad type logic either, we've got enough of that to combat
