In China, when we learn English, our teachers ask us to use as many complex sentences to show our language ability, especially in writing. But from the American dramas I have seen, there are usually simple sentences. So I want to ask, in your daily life, how do you make sentences? Do complex sentences look or sound not simon-pure?
@qinyurou,
Think about your teacher's mention of 'writing'. The concept of 'a sentence' is largely based on writing, not speech. The examples of 'complex sentences' you require are more likely to be found in literature than in conversation in which 'grammar' is instinctive and often irregular.
