Are you thinking of a "Wife Beater"? That's usually reserved for a shirt more like this:

I knew "tank top", but the defintion from AHD got me confused:

A sleeveless, tight-fitting, usually knit shirt with wide shoulder straps and no front opening.
It should be "narrow shoulder straps".

That's why I specified "spaghetti-strap"...
Tank tops DO generally have wider straps -- say ~2 inches, more like in Piffka's pic -- but the yellow one would still be considered a tank top, with spaghetti straps (thin straps).
