Hi all! This is my first post and I appreciate any help, please!
I'm working with a printer on some wedding signage - they currently have one that says, "We know that these desserts look great, please wait until we cut the cake" - the stationer insists that this is correct. I am saying that it should say something like, "we know these desserts look great but please wait until we cut the cake" or "though these desserts look great, please....". She says she won't redo the wording. So what symbol could we use in the middle? dash/hyphen? "we know these dessert look great - please wait until we cut the cake"? semi colon? what do you think?
If you are getting hung up on semicolons in your wedding signs, I pity the groom. However, I think a hyphen would look neat. Why not go for greengrocer's apostrophes for a really cool look?
How about:
Please wait until we cut the wedding cake before enjoying the desserts.

The comma is technically 'wrong'. A conjunction would be normal.
If it is the word count/spacing which is the problem just change the comma to a full stop (period), and follow what is now the second sentence with an exclamation mark.
